Malaria cases in Vietnam down 20% in
One-third of the cases were imported into Vietnam from other countries. There was no fatalities and no outbreaks reported in the country last year.
According to Dr. Hoang Dinh Canh, Director of the Central Institute of Malaria, Parasitology, and Entomology, from to , the number of malaria cases and deaths has gradually declined year on year, with a decrease of % from 15, cases to cases per year. HÀ NỘI — The number of malaria cases in Việt Nam continued to decline in , with the Ministry of Health recording cases, a 21 per cent decrease compared to the previous year.
One third of these cases were imported, and no deaths or outbreaks were reported, highlighting the country’s progress in eliminating the disease.
According to Hoàng Đình Cảnh, Director of the National Institute of Malariology, Parasitology and Entomology, malaria cases and fatalities in Việt Nam have steadily decreased over the past decade.
Between and , the number of cases dropped by per cent, from 15, cases down to annually. The most significant declines occurred between and , when cases were halved each year, and from to , when they decreased more than three-fold annually.
In , the total number of cases fell by per cent compared to , with no malaria-related deaths recorded, a reduction of two cases from the previous year. Additionally, there were no reported outbreaks of malaria.
